Anambas and Natuna Lead Growth in 2025
Economic performance accelerated significantly in 2025, led by Anambas Islands, which recorded an impressive 15.54 percent economic growth—the highest in the province.
Natuna followed with 10.49 percent growth after experiencing contraction the previous year.
The strong performance reflects the recovery of economic activities in the province’s border regions, supported primarily by the oil and gas industry, fisheries, and other natural resource-based sectors.
Meanwhile, Batam maintained stable growth at 6.76 percent, followed by Bintan (6.43 percent), Karimun (5.44 percent), Lingga (3.53 percent), and Tanjungpinang (3.31 percent).
Batam Continues to Drive the Provincial Economy
Beyond growth figures, Bank Indonesia also highlighted the province’s economic structure, noting that the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) remains heavily concentrated in Batam City.
Based on current-price GRDP distribution data for the 2020–2025 period, Batam’s contribution is projected to reach 66.44 percent in 2025, meaning more than two-thirds of the province’s economic output originates from the city.
Batam’s economy continues to be supported by its strong manufacturing industry, trade, logistics, investment, and service sectors, reinforcing its role as the province’s primary economic engine.
