According to Amsakar, the broader administrative area presents new opportunities as well as greater development challenges, making academic collaboration essential to support evidence-based policymaking and sustainable regional planning.

As Indonesia’s leading maritime university, UMRAH is expected to contribute through research, innovation, scientific studies, and policy recommendations tailored to the future development needs of BP Batam’s expanded jurisdiction.

UMRAH Rector Prof. Dr. Agung Dhamar Syakti reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting BP Batam through three major pillars: research and science and technology, maritime innovation and culture, and community service.

“We are ready to support BP Batam through stronger research, innovation, and community engagement. We believe this synergy will make a meaningful contribution to Batam’s position as the economic epicenter of the Riau Islands Province and western Indonesia,” Prof. Agung said.

Through the strategic partnership, BP Batam and UMRAH have committed to building long-term collaboration based on shared responsibility to advance regional development, attract investment, stimulate sustainable economic growth, and empower local communities.

The cooperation also aims to strengthen people-centered economic development through maritime research and innovation, supporting Batam’s transformation into a globally competitive investment destination while ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth across its expanded 22-island territory.
