STRAIGHTTIME.ASIA, INDONESIA – The economy of Indonesia’s Riau Islands Province (Kepri) has continued to recover strongly following the severe downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with nearly all regencies and municipalities returning to positive growth between 2020 and 2025.

According to the latest data presented by the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for the Riau Islands, the province’s economic recovery has become increasingly solid, although disparities in growth among regions remain due to differences in their economic structures.

Head of Bank Indonesia’s Riau Islands Representative Office, Rony Widijarto Purubaskoro, said several regions posted remarkable growth acceleration in 2025, reflecting stronger economic momentum across the province.

He delivered the remarks during the Media Gathering (Bincang Bareng Media/BBM) held at Bank Indonesia’s Riau Islands Office on Thursday (June 25, 2026).

“Overall, the Riau Islands economy continues to strengthen. However, growth dynamics still vary across regions according to their respective economic characteristics,” Rony said.
