STRAIGHTTIME.ASIA, INDONESIA – The Riau Islands Provincial Government, represented by Deputy Governor Nyanyang Haris Pratamura, attended the Closing Ceremony and Gala Dinner of the 22nd Malaysia-Indonesia Socio-Economic Cooperation (Sosek Malindo) held at the Grand Ballroom Sisoding, Wyndham Batam, on Wednesday (June 24, 2026).
The strategic forum, held from June 22 to 25, 2026, in Batam City, served as an important platform to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia, particularly between the Provinces of Riau Islands (Kepri) and Riau, and the Malaysian states of Johor and Melaka.
In his remarks, Nyanyang Haris emphasized that Sosek Malindo is far more than an annual meeting. He described it as a strategic platform to enhance cross-border cooperation in a wide range of sectors, including social affairs, economic development, trade, transportation, cultural preservation, and border governance.
According to him, this year’s forum focuses on strengthening regional integration, positioning the Riau Islands—especially Batam—as a stronger hub for Indonesia-Malaysia cross-border economic cooperation.
“This forum serves as a platform to strengthen the synergy between our two nations in promoting economic growth, increasing investment, improving connectivity, and accelerating the development of competitive and sustainable border regions,” Nyanyang said.
Throughout the series of meetings, delegates reached several strategic understandings aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation.
