STRAIGHTTIME.ASIA, INDONESIA – Despite global economic uncertainties and intensifying competition among investment destinations, Batam continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience as one of Indonesia’s leading investment hubs. Throughout 2025, the city exceeded its investment targets and maintained strong growth momentum into the first quarter of 2026.
According to Indonesia’s Investment Activity Report (LKPM), Batam recorded Rp44.01 trillion in realized investment during 2025, representing a 72.83 percent increase from Rp25.46 trillion in 2024. The figure also surpassed the government’s annual target of Rp36.9 trillion.
Meanwhile, using BP Batam’s bottom-up investment calculation methodology, total investment realization reached Rp69.30 trillion, equivalent to 115.5 percent of the agency’s investment target of Rp60 trillion.
Head of BP Batam, Amsakar Achmad, described the achievement as clear evidence of growing investor confidence in Batam’s economic potential.
He explained that the impressive performance resulted from consistent efforts to improve the investment climate, including simplifying licensing procedures, reforming regulations, and accelerating the development of strategic infrastructure.
“These figures confirm that Batam remains a trusted destination for investors. Amid global economic challenges, Batam has continued to record stronger investment growth. This reflects our increasingly competitive and business-friendly investment climate,” Amsakar said on Monday (June 22, 2026).
He added that the continuous growth in investment effectively answers doubts regarding Batam’s long-term economic prospects.
“The most objective indicator of a region’s attractiveness is investors’ willingness to place their capital there. As long as investment continues to grow—both domestic and foreign—it means businesses see promising opportunities and a bright future in Batam,” he said.
One of the strongest contributors to the growth was Domestic Direct Investment (PMDN), which reached Rp18.43 trillion in 2025, soaring 125.86 percent from Rp8.16 trillion recorded the previous year.
