STRAIGHTTIME.ASIA, INDONESIA – Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and India gathered in Batam to celebrate International Yoga Day 2026, highlighting the growing importance of wellness and healthy living through yoga.

Organized by HARRIS Hotel Batam Center and HARRIS Resort Waterfront Batam, both managed by The Ascott Limited (Ascott), in collaboration with Pesona Yoga Studio, the event carried the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The celebration took place at the Sport Hall of Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB), where participants dressed in vibrant purple and pink sportswear, creating an energetic and inspiring atmosphere.

The event reflected the global movement encouraging people of all ages to adopt healthier lifestyles through yoga, emphasizing that healthy ageing begins with consistent physical activity, mindfulness, and balanced living.

To extend the campaign beyond the venue, HARRIS Hotels also launched the #FindYourBalance Challenge, an interactive digital competition designed to inspire more people to embrace wellness while promoting the brand’s core values of STAY FIT and active living.

Promoting Healthy Ageing Through Yoga

The 2026 celebration focused on the global theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” reflecting increasing public awareness of long-term health investment in the post-pandemic era.

Working alongside Pesona Yoga Studio, one of the leading yoga communities in Indonesia’s Riau Islands Province, the event featured five experienced yoga instructors: Teacher Mariati, Teacher Anand, Teacher VK, Teacher Kadek, and Teacher Tio.

Participants were guided through structured yoga sessions that included breathing techniques, flexibility exercises, balance training, and advanced poses such as dynamic headstands, demonstrating yoga’s adaptability for practitioners of every age.

“We sincerely appreciate this remarkable collaboration with HARRIS Hotels Batam and Sky Yoga Centre Singapore in celebrating International Yoga Day 2026,” said Teacher Mariati, founder of the event from Pesona Yoga Studio.

“Through the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ we want people to understand that healthy ageing is not a coincidence—it is the result of continuous investment in health. Today’s yoga sequences, from breathing exercises to balance practices, demonstrate that yoga is safe, adaptable, and beneficial throughout every stage of life.

“The enthusiastic participation of hundreds of attendees from Singapore, Malaysia, India, and Batam itself sends a strong message that more people are becoming aware of the importance of harmony between body, mind, and soul.”

Mariati added that the studio’s vision is clear: to make yoga accessible to society and encourage more people to practice yoga as part of everyday life.

Community Wellness Beyond Hospitality

Every registered participant attended the event free of charge and received healthy snacks, exclusive yoga sessions, and opportunities to win attractive lucky draw prizes provided by the organizers.

According to Dila Bachmid, Marketing & Branding Manager Shared Service of HARRIS Resort Waterfront Batam and HARRIS Hotel Batam Center, the initiative reflects the hotels’ broader commitment to community wellness.

“Through ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ HARRIS Hotel Batam Center and HARRIS Resort Waterfront Batam aim to position ourselves beyond traditional hospitality services. We are committed to becoming active contributors in promoting healthier and more sustainable lifestyles for the Batam community.

“Our partnership with Pesona Yoga Studio represents our corporate commitment to supporting community well-being and encouraging healthy living,” she said.

#FindYourBalance Digital Campaign

To engage people unable to attend the event in person, HARRIS Hotels organized the #FindYourBalance Challenge, running from June 19 to 21, 2026.

The campaign encouraged participants to follow the official social media accounts of HARRIS Batam Center, HARRIS Waterfront Batam, and Pesona Yoga Studio, upload original yoga photos or videos, share personal reflections on achieving life balance, tag the organizers, and use the hashtags #HARRISStayfit, #FindYourBalance, #InternationalYogaDay, and #PesonaYogaBatam.

Participants also invited friends to join the healthy lifestyle movement by mentioning at least three people in the comments of the official campaign post.

To recognize participants’ creativity and commitment to promoting healthy living, HARRIS prepared four premium prizes:
Two-day, one-night stay with breakfast at HARRIS Resort Waterfront Batam.
Two-day, one-night stay with breakfast at HARRIS Hotel Batam Center.
Exclusive BBQ dining voucher for two at HARRIS Resort Waterfront Batam.

The winners were announced during the International Yoga Day celebration at the UIB Sport Hall, with all prize recipients being registered participants who completed the full event program.

The successful collaboration between HARRIS Hotels, Pesona Yoga Studio, and wellness partners from neighboring countries reinforced Batam’s growing reputation as a destination for international lifestyle, health, and community events while promoting yoga as a lifelong pathway toward healthier ageing.
