STAsia, TANJUNG PINANG – Head of the Riau Islands Provincial Library and Archives Office (DPK Kepri), Bisri, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening public literacy development through a range of strategic and cross-sector collaborative programs.
The initiative aims to improve the Public Literacy Development Index (IPLM) across the Riau Islands by working closely with district and municipal Library and Archives Offices to expand library services down to the village level.
“Strengthening literacy should not only be carried out at the provincial level but must also directly reach communities in villages and local neighborhoods,” Bisri said.
DPK Kepri, together with local governments, continues to optimize the role of libraries, including public and special libraries. The effort covers the development of provincial, district, municipal, village libraries, as well as independently managed community reading centers.
One of the key initiatives is a book grant program designed to increase the number of book titles and reading collections available to the public. In addition, access to reading materials has been expanded through digital library (e-library) services, allowing residents to read anytime and anywhere.
